Seattle Sport Rehabilitation and Performance strives for improvement by regularly reviewing updates to the scientific literature surrounding the field of physical therapy and performance. As we work to incorporate new practices into our internal workflows, we may occasionally seek help from community members to serve as test patients to aid us in becoming more efficient, better understand potential barriers to clinical implementation, and other learn of considerations prior to in-clinic rollout.

Who Should Get Baseline Tested—and When:
Baseline testing should begin at age 10 and be repeated annually for young athletes.
For athletes participating in multiple sports, ideally baseline testing is completed at the start of each sport’s season for the most accurate monitoring.
For collegiate athletes and adults, repeat testing every two years is recommended.

Led by Laura, an RYT-500 certified instructor and endurance athlete with over a decade of dedicated practice, this vinyasa class combines mindful movement with breath awareness to create a moving meditation that both challenges and soothes.
Vinyasa yoga links breath with movement in a smooth, flowing sequence that builds heat, flexibility, and stability while promoting mental focus and nervous system calm. Laura’s trauma-informed approach integrates elements of meditation and sound healing, making the class accessible and restorative for all levels.

Christina Palumbo, PT, DPT is a physical therapist with over a decade of experience working with older adults in independent and assisted living settings. She focuses on improving function and mobility to enhance quality of life. She is PWR! Certified, a specialized certification for treating individuals with Parkinson’s disease—a population she is especially passionate about serving. She has taught classes for individuals with a wide range of physical abilities, ensuring that modifications are provided so everyone can participate safely and effectively. Christina incorporates traditional strength training with boxing elements to create engaging classes that feel fun and dynamic rather than like a typical workout.

Laura is an RYT-500 certified instructor based in Seattle.

As a longtime athlete, she found yoga in 2010 after suffering repeated overuse injuries from competitive running. After twelve years of dedicated practice, she pursued teacher training in an effort to bring this healing, transformative practice to others. Laura is trained to teach a variety of yoga styles, including: power, vinyasa, hot style, yin and restorative and has coached two rounds of Power Yoga Teacher Training. She is also trained in meditation, sound healing, and trauma-informed practices, which she integrates into all of her classes.

As a dedicated ultra marathoner, skier, and all-around endurance athlete herself, Laura has a passion for working with other athletes and using yoga as an integrated tool to unlock more mobility, stability, and strength to support well-rounded performance in sport.
